Curriculum summary
Dr. Miguel Ángel Miranda is Professor of Zoology in the Department of Biology at the University of the Balearic Islands (Spain). His research interests include applied entomology, specifically agricultural pests, forest pests and disease vectors in animals and plants. Among other topics, he has worked on the biological control of the pine processionary, insect vectors of the bluetongue virus, invasive species such as the tiger mosquito and vectors of the bacterium Xylella fastidiosa. Since 2020 he is the liaison between the European VectorNet consortium and the ECDC and EFSA focal points in Spain. Since 2017 he leads the research group in Applied Zoology and Animal Conservation at the University of the Balearic Islands. In addition, he is a member of the Interdisciplinary Laboratory on Climate Change at the University of the Balearic Islands. His scientific activity includes 100 scientific publications (Q1/Q2; h-index:33) and the direction of six PhD theses.
