Curriculum summary

Mauricio Ruiz holds a PhD in Geography and is a senior university lecturer. He has three individual six-year research periods (CNAE). He has conducted his teaching and research career at the UIB and IMEDEA (CSIC). He has been the director of the GIS and Remote Sensing Service of the UIB (https://ssigt.uib.es/) since it was created, back in 1993.

His line of research is the integrated analysis of territorial components (i.e. environmental, social and economic) and their dynamics through the application of geographic information technologies. He has participated in national (30), international (12) and applied (90) research projects. He has more than 100 scientific publications.

He has coordinated numerous postgraduate degree programmes with a focus on GIS, Remote Sensing, Territorial Hazards and Landscape at the UIB. He is currently a member of the MEDHyCON research group (http://medhycon.uib.cat/) and collaborates with other groups, such as the Tourism, Mobility and Territory research group (http://gitmot.uib.es/es/presentacion/), the Water Observatory (http://observatoriaigua.uib.es/) and the SmartDestination Interdisciplinary Working Group (https://smartcity.uib.cat/), amongst others.
