Curriculum summary
Dr Alorda’s research focuses and specialises in the application of microcontrollers with sensor network technology and the development of remote monitoring for systems and spaces affected by global change in hydrology and biodiversity. The use of advanced techniques such as advanced monitoring based on long-range communication protocols, unmanned aerial vehicles (drones or UAVs) and information technology is the underpinning methodology for this applied research. He is the lead scientist on the IoTIB initiative supported by the Government of the Balearic Islands to develop the ‘Internet of Things in the Balearic Islands’, as well as joint lead researcher for the Hydrological Early Warning System Network in the Balearic Islands.
