The Agro-environmental and Water Economics Institute (INAGEA) of the University of the Balearic Islands, the University of Oxford, the Oxford Intellectual Property Research Centre (OIPRC) of the Faculty of Law of the University of Oxford, and the Community Plant Variety Office (CPVO) signed an agreement to “analyze the innovation potential of European Geographical Indications in the wine sector and the existing room for maneuver for the adoption of new plant varieties in this framework”. This historic agreement represents a new milestone for INAGEA’s groups and researchers in basic and applied research in the wine sector, with decades of experience behind them, now also in the field of industrial property. This new collaboration with some of the most prestigious institutions and leading international experts and personalities in this field is a key element in INAGEA’s R+D+I strategy, in which the provision of comprehensive services in and for the wine sector occupies a prominent place.
