IB-Salut investigates diseases that ticks can transmit

Miquel Àngel Miranda, professor of Zoology at the UIB and researcher at INAEGA, who is also participating in the aforementioned study, explains that “all ticks are potentially dangerous, as they can transmit pathogens, and this year there are more in Mallorca because it rained this spring.” However, he clarifies that “there are species that have a greater affinity for humans, and these are the most relevant.” On this point, he highlights that in Mallorca, the most common ticks belong to the Hyalomma genus.
