
Yesterday, Tuesday, May 6, the Scientific Outreach Conference on Innovation and Sustainability in Agricultural Soil Management, organized by the Agri-Food Research and Water Economics Institute (INAGEA-UIB), was successfully held in Room 7 of the Guillem Cifré de Colonya building (UIB Campus, Palma).
The event brought together researchers, agricultural professionals, and students to discuss key challenges for more sustainable farming, including:
- Integrated nutrient management and the use of biostimulants, presented by Ana Quiñones Oliver and Ana Pérez Piqueres (IVIA).
- Agronomic strategies using halophytes for crops in saline conditions, with José A. Hernández Cortés (CEBAS-CSIC).
- Soil management and regeneration, featuring Daniel Sacristán Moraga (University of Valencia).
The program also included a roundtable discussion with representatives from ASAJA, APAEMA, UV, CEBAS-CSIC, and IVIA, addressing current sector challenges and opportunities.
Dr. José M. Escalona, Director of INAGEA-UIB, opened and closed the conference, emphasizing the importance of transferring scientific knowledge to the agri-food sector to tackle environmental challenges.
