Miguel Ángel Miranda, INAGEA – UIB researcher and member of the Mallorca Comic Cluster and Nous Media, along with Pere Joan, vice president of the Mallorca Comic Cluster and Nous Media, are the organizers of CATACRACK! 1st Comic Studies Conference.
The Balearic Islands are one of the most important hubs for comic production. With several national awards, publishing houses, training degrees, comic experts, and a professional association, the Balearic Islands have established themselves as a national and international benchmark.
Despite having a Cómic Nostrum festival, now in its thirteenth year, the Balearic Islands have never held a conference dedicated to the study of comics. For this reason, the of the Mallorca Comic Cluster and Nous Media, in collaboration with the University of the Balearic Islands, has launched the first CATACRACK!
The goal of CATACRACK! is to become a benchmark in comic studies in all fields, including entertainment, education, scientific dissemination, journalism, social studies, and others.
