On June 12, the new Research Complex of the Balearic Islands was inaugurated at ParcBit, where the Institute for Agri-environmental Research and Water Economics (INAGEA-UIB) is located.
The opening ceremony was attended by the President of the Government, Marga Prohens; representatives of the European Commission, Valentina Corsetti and Diego Villalba; the Director General of European Funds of the Government of Spain, Esperanza Samblás; the rector of the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB), Jaume Carot, as well as several authorities and representatives of research centers, clusters, former regional heads of research and representatives of economic entities.
The Institute for Agro-environmental Research and Water Economics (INAGEA-UIB), located in the Balearic Research Complex in Parc Bit, has a 900 m² space that includes four laboratories with high-tech equipment for research in plant ecophysiology, molecular biology, in vitro culture, biochemistry, microscopy, histology and hydrology, as well as rooms where water purification equipment, ultrafreezers, centrifuges… are located. and offices. It also has common areas for seminars, library, assembly hall and other services. Its multidisciplinary approach integrates these fields to develop sustainable solutions in a context of global change. In addition, INAGEA offers scientific and technical services, actively participating in the training and dissemination of knowledge, and supporting the scientific community and the business sector in areas such as instrumental analysis and plant biotechnology.
